FotoPreProcessor Updated

FotoPreProcessor has received an update. I fixed various bugs related to the PyQt4-to-5 porting, optimised variable initialisation (e.g. using {} instead of dict()), fixed the load progress calculation (non-image files ignored by exiftool were not taken into account) and added a new feature. FPP now saves the original file’s MD5 checksum as ImageUniqueID tag. Two … Continue reading

FotoPreProcessor v20151104

FotoPreProcessor v20151104

And here is another update to FotoPreProcessor, dealing with an orientation bug. The last version suffered from a coding typo that resulted in a wrong Orientation tag value. This in turn prevented FPP to apply all changes, so no harm would have been done to the image files. Version 20151104 fixes this bug. In addition, … Continue reading

FotoPreProcessor v20151101

FotoPreProcessor v20151101

Since June I’ve updated FotoPreProcessor on GitHub. Here is my changelog: many small fixes, including corrected auto-rotating of preview images (Qt auto-rotates images if EXIF information is available, thus FotoPreProcessor would apply this orientation again) update to Python 3 and the new Qt signal/slot mechanism improved argument handling new: search option for locations new: changes … Continue reading

FotoPreProcessor Revision 15

FotoPreProcessor Revision 15

I’ve uploaded a new revision of FotoPreProcessor. Now it is possible to navigate back and forth while in preview mode. And a flaw regarding CR2 files (Canon’s RAW file format) was fixed: when importing these raw image files using Qt’s routines the images are rotated automatically. Thus FotoPreProcessor must not apply the orientation information obtained … Continue reading

FotoPreProcessor Revision 14

FotoPreProcessor Revision 14

Revision 14 introduces a new preview mode. Only embedded thumbnail images as well as small images are loaded directly. Icon images can only be enlarged up to 160×120 pixels. But, after double-clicking a thumbnail, the entire selected image is loaded and displayed in place of the thumb list. Another click into the preview image lets … Continue reading

2013

It’s some kind of tradition to look back at the old year in December, but I intend to look forward. Recently I switched to the unstable branch of mail-client/thunderbird. Now I am using Thunderbird 17.0-r2 and that means I can continue to maintain and upgrade ThunderSync in 2013. For example I’ve to fix the “popularity … Continue reading

FotoPreProcessor Revision 13

FotoPreProcessor Revision 13

Fix of the fix… Revision 12 improves FotoPreProcessor’s behaviour handling collisions in multi-selections. But its algorithm is to strict, preventing the user from editing GPS coordinates. This is now fixed in revision 13.

Lens Calibration: Canon EF-S 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

My image processing workflow is nearly complete. FotoPreProcessor is working as expected (small quirks aside), UFRaw proves to be a good RAW converter and The GIMP is adding finishing touches. But one building block is incomplete: lens correction, done by UFRaw via the LensFun library. All my lenses are present in LensFun’s library except for … Continue reading
